The bold Simpsons prediction that has Mexico fans dreaming of World Cup glory

Mexico have had a perfect 2026 World Cup so far, advancing to the round of 32 after winning all three of their group matches and leaving a very strong impression throughout the tournament.

The Mexicans finished as group winners with nine points from nine, six goals scored and none conceded. A flawless record that has fuelled the excitement among their supporters heading into the knockout rounds.

As the excitement in the country builds on the back of this impressive run, belief has been further increased as a telling prediction has been made by what is a surprise, but proven influential force... the American long running TV show 'The Simpsons'.

Now, bear with us here. There is actually a proven track record of The Simpsons successfully forecasting the future. 

In a eerie coincidence they 'predicted' the 9/11 terrorist attacks when character Liza Simpson showed a magazine with the Twin Towers on the front with text that looked like '9/11' next to it.

More on the nose, they called Donald Trump becoming US President in numerous episodes, over a decade before the former 'The Appreciate' ' star took over the White House. Add to this that Warner Brothers Studios would be bought out by Disney and a worldwide pandemic.

They've even foretold soccer results, calling Germany would beat Brazil at the 2014 World Cup.

So, how is this potentially good news for Mexico?

Well, in a 1997 episode The Simpsons family are watching TV when an advert appears promoting a soccer match between Mexico and Portugal hosted in the US, with the quote "this match will determine once and for all which nation is the greatest on earth."

It is something that has caught the attention of many, including respected journalist Kery Ruiz, who spoke on the 'La Dazoneta' programme, where he shared his view on Mexico's performances and how far they could go at the World Cup.

The pundit put forward an ambitious theory based on the team's current form and the history of the tournament.

"Mexico are up there with sides like the Netherlands of 1974, World Cup finalists; Brazil in 1986, who finished fifth; Italy in 1990, who reached the semi-finals; Argentina in 1998, who made the quarter-finals; and Uruguay in 2018, who also reached the last eight. If history is on our side, we'll reach the quarter-finals at minimum this time around," the pundit said.

Ruiz went even further in his prediction, raising expectations for the Mexican side still higher.

"Mexico have already secured their place in the round of 32, and if we get through, we'll have a round of 16 match at the Azteca Stadium, 2,100 metres above sea level. Nobody is going to take a point off us there. Mexico will reach the semi-finals at our World Cup," he added.

"I have always trusted The Simpsons — if The Simpsons say we're going to play the final against Portugal, we will play the final against Portugal, and the first leg will be in Xochimilco," concluded Kery Ruiz, delivering a bold prediction inspired by the popular television series.
