Oscars Brother poised for debut in McManus silks

PA

Florida Pearl winner Oscars Brother is set to make his first start for new owner JP McManus at either Naas or Navan over the coming weeks.

The eight-year-old landed the Punchestown Grade Two by three lengths from Koktail Divin in November, taking the next step in a successful season for trainer Connor King and his brother Daniel, who took the ride.

His exploits clearly piqued the interest of McManus, who purchased him from the King family-run syndicate to remain in the Tipperary yard – with either the Finlay Ford At Naas Novice Chase or the Ten Up Novice Chase likely to be his maiden outing in green and gold silks.

“Oscars Brother is doing well, he will probably run over at Naas on January 25 or over the following few days at Navan,” said Frank Berry, racing manager to McManus.

“There’s a graded race at Naas and the Ten Up at Navan, so he is pencilled in for one of those two races.

“We want to get him out and about, hopefully before the end of the month or shortly after, and then we’ll see where we want to go with him from there.”
