The Dallas Stars are charging strongly in the Western Conference. Now, they have a little bit of help to give them more of a boost.Â
On Wednesday, the Stars announced they have acquired veteran defenseman Tyler Myers from the Vancouver Canucks for a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL entry draft and a fourth-round pick in 2029. Also, the Canucks will pay half of Myers' salary for the remainder of the season and $1.5 million for next season.Â
The Stars (38-14-9, 85 points) are the hottest team in the NHL. They are currently riding a 10-game winning streak and are just six points behind the conference-leading Colorado Avalanche. The right side of their defense needed help in a big way.
The six-foot-eight Myers had one goal and seven assists in 57 games for Vancouver. Myers should provide the stability the Stars have been looking for, with a stay-at-home defender and someone who brings physicality. He's expected to be on the third line along with Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley.
Myers is expected to be in the lineup when the Stars return to the ice on Friday night against the Avalanche.Â
