NHL Stanely Cup Playoffs: Buffalo Sabres returning to Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen behind in Game 4 vs. Canadiens

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is going to get another shot. 

Down 2-1 in their second-round series against the Montreal Canadiens, the Buffalo Sabres announced on Tuesday that they are going back to Luukkonen for a must-win Game 4 this evening. You can watch every game of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs live on DAZN (except in the US and Canada). 

Luukkonen hasn't been behind the crease since getting pulled late in Game 2 of Buffalo's first-round series against the Boston Bruins when he allowed four goals on 20 shots. He got replaced by Alex Lyon, who helped the Sabres win the series over the Bruins. Lyon was 4-2 with a 1.73 GAA and .934 SV%.

But things took a turn for the worse for Lyon in this round. Despite helping the Sabres win Game 1 over the Canadiens, Lyon struggled mightily in the last two games, allowing nine total goals, including five goals allowed in the Sabres' 6-1 loss in Game 3, which has now put Buffalo in a must-win situation on Tuesday. 

"I'm excited," Luukkonen said regarding getting another opportunity in net.
