Miguel Trindade (63-8, 26 KOs) is back this weekend at Glory Collision 8. He recently made a name for himself with an incredible combo in his last fight. This time, he will face France's Bobo Sacko (79-6-1, 30 KOs). The fight was initially scheduled but then canceled due to the Portuguese fighter missing weight.
Trindade spoke with DAZN News in an interview that looked back on his career, his aspirations, and his fights against Petch.
Miguel Trindade: It has been a very hard and long training camp, but very positive. No injuries, very healthy, a lot of high-quality sparring and training, and we are more than ready.
MT: This time, you can expect more of the same, an unforgettable night, the best Miguel possible. As I said, the camp was amazing, so I will be able to bring my best version.
MT: Bobo Sacko is a very, very great opponent. He's very good, a veteran, with a lot of experience at a high level, very technical, so I have nothing but respect. But I think I have what it takes to bring him to my game and to show that I'm a superior fighter.
MT: My prediction? A win. Not sure if by KO or by points, but for sure, a win for me.
MT: You cannot plan or prepare to do something like that. You have to feel it. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But when you have the opportunity, you just have to go with the flow. I just went to a flow state and it came naturally. I cannot tell you that I was preparing to do something like that. It was natural.
MT: In my mind, I just try to be the most complete and unpredictable fighter possible because if I have more weapons, I have more chances to win. That's it. When the right moment arrives, I have a lot of options because I can kick, knee, punch. I know how to use my footwork. I try to be as complete as possible to be able to shine in every situation.
MT: Yes, everything was good with my health, but the problem was that I didn't have the time to prepare as I liked. The fight was scheduled previously for a date, and then the organization told me that it would be rescheduled for three weeks earlier. Instead of November, it would be October. I had all my life planned for the fight camp in November, and then I had to start earlier with extra weight from the summer vacations. I did everything that was in my hands, but I just didn't have the time to make it possible. Now everything is under control and I'm in a very good situation right now, and it will not happen again.
MT: I think among my weight category, I have the respect that I deserve because I have fought against a champion twice. I have beaten the top contenders. I have fought only against the best opponents from my weight category, so I am where I'm supposed to be. About the public, I think every time I fight, the public likes what they see, and that's really important. Besides that, nothing else is in my hands. I just do everything I can to be the best I can and to give the fans what they deserve because when they pay tickets, they are my priority. Win, lose, or draw, I want to always give unforgettable fights.
MT: The first time I fought against Petch, it was in the final of a $100,000 tournament. It was a really close decision. It was a split decision. Really close. We went short. The second one was over five rounds for a title, and he just beat me totally. He was perfect that night and I was in great shape, but I just wasn't ready to be champion that night. I didn't have the experience, didn't have what it takes. But my time will come. My time is going to come for sure. It will happen. It's a matter of time. I'm not sure when, but I will keep working until it comes.
MT: I think one thing I'm sure of is that most people will not be where I am if they had to do what I've done. My life prepared me to be here, to be ready for everything. Even when I lose a fight, it's not a failure. I already won. I'm lucky enough to do what I love every day. What my jobs gave me was mental strength.
MT: Don't lose my next fight. It will be an amazing fight. I'm more than ready. I just can't wait. I love to fight. I love fighting, and I can't wait to show what I've prepared for this one. I think it will be a special one. It's a special fight.
MT: Inside Glory? I'm not sure if I'm the most exciting fighter because there are great fighters in Glory. There's Bahram Rajabzadeh, there's Tariq Osaro, there's Miloš Cvjetićanin, but I'm sure that in my weight class, I'm the most exciting fighter, for sure.
