Defending his heavyweight belt at Glory 100, Rico Verhoeven (65-10, 21 KOs) takes on Artem Vakhitov (22-6, 6 KOs). He is the former light heavyweight champion and the last fighter to beat Alex Pereira in Glory Kickboxing. Verhoeven spoke exclusively to DAZN News about his next opponent.
"My opponent is a really good fighter. He's smart, he's tactical, he's fast, he's explosive, he's all-around. So yeah, he's an amazing challenger," Verhoeven said.
Verhoeven (6' 4") will have a sizeable advantage over Artem Vakhitov (6' 1").
"Any prediction? No. Predictions are not really my thing. I think it's going to be a really good fight and it's going to be an exciting fight because it's going to be high-paced, because that's what he brings to every fight."
But it's a new challenge that excites the Glory heavyweight champion.
"And normally I do the same thing in the heavyweight game, but now it's different because he's the lighter fighter.
"So, yeah, he's going to try and push the pace, but I'm ready. I’m excited for it."
