Alex Pereira believes a rematch with Ciryl Gane is "going to happen" as the former two-division UFC champion targets another shot at heavyweight gold.
Pereira suffered defeat to Gane in their interim UFC heavyweight title fight in June, ending his bid to become the first fighter in UFC history to win championships in three different weight classes.
The Brazilian has now made it clear that he wants another opportunity against Gane and believes a second meeting could be on the horizon.
"I'm seeing many opinions but I think the fight that makes sense is Ciryl Gane," Pereira said in a video posted on Instagram, as reported by MMA Fighting.
"That's the fight. I'm going to work on that and from what I'm seeing, it's something that's going to happen."
Pereira has previously criticised the finish of the first fight, claiming he was struck by illegal shots to the back of the head before Gane secured the victory.
He again referenced the controversy when discussing a potential rematch and said another opportunity would allow him to show what he can do as he continues his pursuit of a third UFC championship.
However, the UFC has yet to officially announce Gane's next opponent.
Gane currently holds the interim heavyweight title, while undisputed champion Tom Aspinall has been sidelined following the eye injuries he suffered during his previous fight with the Frenchman.
