Michael "Venom" Page has a strong friendship with former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and revealed to DAZN News ' Samy Izabachene what he thinks went wrong in Adesanya's last fight.
"I think the main thing during the last moment of the fight is where he got poked in the eye, and I think he rushed a bit too much to try and go back, and then he lost his momentum in that," he said. "I think he should have taken a little bit more time to deal with his eye, give himself a bit of a respite because that took his momentum and give himself time to reset properly. I think that was the main thing. He looked good in the first round. I think he looked amazing in the first round. To be fair, I feel like he could have continued that and done and won the fight, but it's unfortunate. The game that we're in is unforgiving. But he did look amazing, and I can definitely see him getting back in or wanted to get back in very soon."
Adesanya has lost his last three fights, leaving him in an odd place when it comes to who he might fight next. Even Page was stuck when asked who he thought would be the next opponent for Adesanya.
"I don't know. It's a difficult one," Page said. "Obviously, he's going to need one to just get his confidence back. I don't mean fighting anybody not good enough or his standard. He still needs to fight at the higher end. He's still such a dangerous fighter. I'm not sure. I still think give him a top 10 fighter, and then just hopefully, he gets that victory and it gives him the confidence to start progressing again and moving in the right direction."
