Gervonta Davis has given a pessimistic update on his chances of fighting Naoya Inoue.
The Japanese fighter became the undisputed super bantamweight on Tuesday when he defeated Marlon Tapales, the second weight he has held all four belts at, having done the same at bantamweight.
Inoue is currently unbeaten in 26 fights and there has been speculation that he could move up in weight.
There had even been a discussion amongst fans about the chance of the new four-belt champion moving up to fight ‘Tank’ Davis.
Davis said on Instagram in response: “I’m not fighting him. He’s NO WHERE near my weight. [I don’t know] why this page keep posting s*** like this.”
Davis’ most recent fight was earlier this year against Ryan Garcia, which he won impressively with a body shot in April.
One fight he could potentially entertain is another super lightweight match-up, against Devin Haney, who is now WBC champion at 140lbs after beating Regis Prograis.
