Germany and Spain drawn into the same 2022 World Cup group

Germany and Spain is the standout clash for this year's 2022 World Cup group stage.

The two former winners were drawn into Group E with Japan and either Costa Rica or New Zealand. 

Elsewhere, England could face British rivals Wales or Scotland in Group B if they can get through their European playoff scheduled for the Summer. 

Hosts Qatar were with Senegal and the Netherlands and will face Ecuador on the tournament's opening day in Group A.

Defending champions France is in Group D and will face Denmark, Tunisia, and either Peru, UAE, or Australia.

Defending champions France drawn into Group D

Defending champions France will be in Group D.

England and Argentina have been drawn into Group B and C respectively.

 

Draw is underway

The draw is finally underway.

Hosts Qatar will be the first team in Group A. 

 

FIFA Legends now revealed

Eight FIFA legends will be helping to conduct the draw.

Cafu (Brazil), Lothar Matthaus (Germany), Jay-Jay Okocha (Nigeria), Tim Cahill (Australia), Adel Ahmed MalAllah (Qatar), Ali Daei (Iran), Bora Milutinovic (Serbia) and Rabah Madjer (Algeria).

Not long now...

As ever with these draws, there's a fair few formalities to go through.

However, the first ball, which will be the hosts Qatar is set be drawn in approximately four minutes time.

First official order of the business is the grand reveal of the official 2022 World Cup mascot.

Good evening and welcome to DAZN News' coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Draw in Qatar.

32 teams will learn their group stage fate ahead of the tournament which gets underway in seven months time. 

The first ball, which will be Qatar, is expected to be drawn just after 5:30 p.m. BST / 6:30 p.m. CET / 12:30 p.m. ET.
