Just days removed from a heartbreaking Carabao Cup final loss, Chelsea were back to winning way in another cup competition.
The Blues topped visiting Leeds United 3-2 in their FA Cup fifth round match on Wednesday, with Conor Gallagher the hero with a 90th-minute match-winner for the London side.
Gallagher's late winner was required against a Leeds side who refused to roll over for their Premier League opposition, and the 24-year-old explained afterwards that the weekend's Carabao Cup defeat to Liverpool provided extra motivation for his side to claim victory at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
"It [the Carabao Cup final loss] was a big disappointment and we wanted to bounce back and give the fans something to celebrate and we managed to do that," Gallagher told ITV Sport.
"It has been a really tough few days and everyone has been down but we had to make sure we were right because it was such an important game and the boys dug deep to get the win.
"It was a really tough game, Leeds are a good side and doing well this season so we knew it would be a tough game but to win in that way was fantastic."
