The German forward has yet to score for Arsenal.

Jermaine Pennant does not think Kai Havertz can turn around his Arsenal career.

Havertz arrived for around £60 million from Chelsea in the summer after struggling to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.

He is yet to score for Arsenal and has not scored more than eight Premier League goals in a season, and Pennant believes it may be tough for Arteta to find a way  to integrate him into the starting line-up.

He believes that another youngster, Emile Smith Rowe, might present a better option.

He told OLBG : “I’m not seeing any evidence Havertz can turn this around. I wasn't totally impressed with his spell at Chelsea. I know they struggled last season, but I'm not sure how long you have to give a player to impress you.

“Havertz is a good player, for sure, but I don't see him being a better option than what Arsenal already have.”

Pennant believes that Havertz may not be the player to get a starting role under Arteta over the long term.

He continued: “I'd say Smith-Rowe, when fit, is a better player who contributes more. Is he a good squad player? Yes. However, I wouldn't say Havertz isn't a go-to number 10 or number 9.”
