Regis Prograis is ready to embrace his next fight against Ivan Redkach as part of the Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren undercard.
The 32-year-old fighter, a former champion at 140lbs, is set to feature on the show broadcast by Triller at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Atlanta.
“Triller is coming on strong. I don't know how much of a threat they'll be, but for right now, it looks like they are going to be one of the top people in the sport,” said Prograis.
“My team has been trying to do something like this a long time ago, where it's an event. Where it's not just regular boxing. You have an event with performers. Boxing has been needing something like this to happen and I am glad to be a part of it ... Without a mainstream fighter, a lot of people won't tune in.”
Prograis believes that only a handful of fighters can put on shows that attract fans in sufficient numbers without aiming for extra angles to promote a fight.
“Jake Paul is very, very popular, so I'm not worried about being on the undercard or anything like that. That has no concern to me at all,” said Prograis.
“I have to go out there and look spectacular and take care of business.”
Prograis’ fight against Redkach will be the only fight featuring two competitors predominantly known for their boxing prowess. Elsewhere Colombian singer Reykon faces boxer Joe Fournier, and former cruiserweight title holder Steve Cunningham will face Frank Mir, a former UFC champion.
“Everytime I fight I look forward to giving a spectacular performance. With this show, even more. I want to represent myself really well,” said Prograis of the event.
“I'm fighting a real fight. The positive for me is you have someone like Jake Paul, and he has a whole different world out there with popularity ... It's a win-win.
“I think a lot of fighters are going to try and do this. I'm glad that I got the call. This is a huge platform, and they are paying us all of this damn money. I think a lot of these fighters are going to reach out and say, 'I want to go fight on Triller.'”
