Is Alexis Rocha ready to fight Terence Crawford?

Is Alexis Rocha ready to fight Terence Crawford?Golden Boy Promotions

Gabriel Rosado and Sergio Mora believe that Alexis Rocha is ready for a title shot with Terence Crawford.

The pair were talking after Rocha defeated late replacement George Ashie at the weekend, to make it six fights unbeaten.

Rocha has often been mentioned as one of the potential next champions of the welterweight division once Errol Spence Jr or Terence Crawford move on or are defeated.

Speaking on DAZN, Rosado was impressed, saying: “I like what I see with Rocha. He’s consistent, he’s sitting on his punches, he’s coming in, he’s not playing games. He’s going for the kill, I like him.

“He’s staying in the gym, that’s what’s so important. Staying in the gym, staying active. You can see it. The guy from Ghana, he was tough, but Rocha, you see a guy that is locked in, he’s in the zone.”

While Rosado did not back Rocha as the favourite against WBO champion Crawford, he did think he posed a threat.

“I think he matches well against Crawford,” he explained, “Crawford is one of the pound-for-pound greats right now, but Rocha’s dangerous, he’s in the zone.”

Mora backed the fight to go ahead, saying: "I would because he feels he’s ready for it. You’ve got to remember, Rocha is a huge welterweight, he’s a southpaw, we know Bud, we know he likes switching but he’s a southpaw too, so maybe that’s going to create problems for Bud initally.

"But we know he’s pound-for-pound talent and he’s bound to figure out Rocha. But if Rocha wants that fight we know he’s strong, he’s muscular, and getting knockouts like that, he’s got the confidence to go with it."
