Just days after winning their first trophy, Inter Miami continue their quest for another one.
The Herons won the Leagues Cup on Sunday, the first piece of silverware in the club's short history. However, there is no rest for the weary as Lionel Messi and Co. will now head to Ohio to face FC Cincinnati on Wednesday in the semi-final round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
Cincinnati are in first place in the MLS standings, with a commanding eight-point lead atop the Eastern Conference and 10 points above any side in the West. They face a Miami club who are dead last in the 27-team league, but Messi's arrival ahead of the Leagues Cup means that he and the other big-name summer reinforcements have yet to actually play an MLS match.
While the wait for Messi's MLS debut continues, his barnstorming tour of the various U.S. cup competitions carries on.
