Jaxon Smith-Njigba and the Seattle Seahawks put on a show on Monday Night Football, rolling past the Houston Texans 27-19.
The young wideout's eight-catch, 123-yard performance extended his lead at the top of the NFL receiving yardage list - 190 yards clear of Ja’Marr Chase in second place.
Smith Njigba wasted no time making his mark in this one. He split two defenders to catch an 11-yard touchdown from Sam Darnold late in the first quarter, putting Seattle up 14-0 and setting the tone for the night.
From there, the Seahawks’ defense went to work. They harassed Texans' quarterback C.J. Stroud constantly and kept Houston's offense out of the end zone until rookie Woody Marks’ late fourth-quarter score.
Darnold wasn’t perfect - finishing with 17 of 31 for 213 yards, one touchdown, and two turnovers - but he played composed football when it mattered most.
Seattle's Zach Charbonnet powered through for two short touchdown runs, while Houston’s Will Anderson Jr. came up big with a sack, a forced fumble, and a scoop-and-score that kept the scoreline respectable.
But make no mistake - this night belonged to Smith-Njigba, who, with a string of sensational performances, has catapulted his name into the Offensive Player of the Year conversation alongside the NFL's elite.
The loss drops Houston to 2-4, buried four games behind the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South.
The Seahawks move to 5-2, keeping stride with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West, and suddenly look like a team no one wants to face.
