Makai Lemon already looks like a first-round NFL Draft pick, but the USC standout still gave scouts something to talk about at his Pro Day

Described by NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah as a “wideout with a running back’s body and a linebacker’s temperament,” Makai Lemon spoke to Good Morning Football available on DAZN for Game Pass subscribers.

Asked about his unofficial 4.47-second 40-yard dash - a time that would have edged the mark set by Ohio State's Carnell Tate at the NFL Combine - the Trojans star made it clear he still expects more from himself.

"There's always room for improvement," Lemon admitted, before outlining where he could have done better.

"Run a little bit faster, better routes, [been] better catching the ball."

Holding himself to high standards has served him well so far. After posting 1,156 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns last season, the 21-year-old was awarded the 2025 Fred Biletnikoff Award, handed annually to college football’s most outstanding receiver.

The humility isn’t for show. "That’s just the mentality I always have," Lemon explained.

When asked to step back and describe his own game the way a draft analyst might, Lemon didn’t hesitate.

"Plays physical. He’s a dog. He’s going to do anything to help his teammates win."

Lemon drew intense criticism on social media for his demeanour during interviews at the Combine.

NFL teams don't seem to care. Lemon has already lined up a string of top-30 visits, with the Titans, Browns, Commanders, Saints, Dolphins and Rams all scheduled to meet with him.

Each of those teams is in the market for wideout help, and all hold a pick in the top half of the first round where Lemon is expected to be selected.

Despite the growing attention, Lemon says his focus has stayed largely the same.

"I'm just a real chill guy. I don't really do too much. Just try to be a great person and keep my faith in the lord."

When asked how he hopes his NFL career will be remembered two decades from now - the kind of question many prospects answer boldly - Lemon kept his response measured.

"That’s a tough question. That’s really far down the line from here. I’m just trying to do everything I can do each day.

"I really don’t look too far ahead. Just do what I can do and then just look up, and hopefully success is there."

If that approach continues to serve him as it did in college, results at the pro level will follow.
