The Maxx Crosby saga took another turn this week after a former NFL linebacker posted a scathing whiteboard breakdown that quickly caught fire online.
It stems from the trade agreement that initially had the Baltimore Ravens sending two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby.
The trade never materialised. During the medical review that precedes every trade, Crosby failed his physical.
That development sparked widespread debate, especially since early indications in January suggested Crosby's recovery from meniscus surgery was on track.
Shortly after that saga unfolded, Baltimore pivoted and instead landed fellow pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, fuelling speculation that the Ravens may have changed their mind for other reasons.
That sequence of events is exactly what Will Compton, a former linebacker with the Raiders, decided to unpack in a lengthy - and highly animated - breakdown.

Using a whiteboard to walk through his theory step by step, the former player stated the purpose of his video in fiery fashion.
"I'm going to, essentially, explain to you why the Ravens are scumbags, and why two first-round picks is more important than reputation," he began.
He continues by outlining how Baltimore initially "operated in good faith," before later taking advantage of the fact that Hendrickson remained unsigned in the first few days of free agency.
"No deal happens, which means the market goes down," Compton explained. "Conversations start to take place with Trey.... They are whispering to the new pretty girl on the market."
"If in the Ravens' mind they feel they can land Trey Hendrickson, then they're going to scrap this bid with Maxx Crosby," he continued.
"What do the Ravens, the scumbags, what do the scumbags do?" he asked. "They fail the physical with Maxx Crosby, which they knew going into it."

Compton recognised shades of a similar situation from earlier in his playing career.
"How am I so dialled and locked in? I have a little bit of experience based on a former teammate of mine," he said.
Compton then referenced a past NFL contract saga involving wide receivers Ryan Grant and Michael Crabtree, stating, "This is not the first time the Ravens have pulled something like this."

Whether Compton’s theory proves accurate or not, Crosby appears focused on running it back in Las Vegas, posting on social media: "I'm a Raider. I'm Back."
