Touchdowns are the biggest scoring plays in the NFL, but what do they actually involve?
DAZN News explains how they happen and why they’re the moment every team is chasing.
A touchdown happens when a player has the ball in possession and either crosses into the opposing team's end zone while running or catches the ball while in the end zone.
A touchdown is worth six points.
For a touchdown to be scored, the scoring player must have possession of the ball, be in bounds, and the ball must cross the plane of the goal line.
This rule is kept in check by officials standing on the goal line who make sure the ball carrier breaks an imaginary 3D plane of the goal line when scoring a touchdown.
