History was not on San Francisco's side going into the fourth quarter.

The San Francisco 49ers were pushed all the way by the Green Bay Packers on Saturday night, as they booked their place in the NFC Championship game.

After losing Deebo Samuel early on, the 49ers struggling to find their rhythm on offense, with Brock Purdy and co. not firing on all cylinders.

Going into the fourth quarter, San Francisco were trailing by seven points, and under head coach Kyle Shanahan that has been a worrisome situation.

Before Saturday's win over the Packers, the 49ers had lost all 30 games under Shanahan when starting the fourth quarter trailing by seven or more points.

San Francisco picked the right time to end that run, as they will now play in a fourth NFC Championship game in five years.

They will welcome the winner of the Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers game to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara next weekend.

As the number one seed in the NFC, they will have their sights on the Super Bowl - as they look to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy for the first time since 1995.
