Abdullah Mason thinks he may have to bring "a little more smoke" against Sam Noakes as he looks to become WBO lightweight champion.
The American bids for the vacant title against another highly rated contender at The Ring IV in Riyadh this November live on DAZN PPV.
Like Mason, Noakes is an unbeaten star too, and has swept the domestic titles in his native United Kingdom to set up this opportunity.
The Ohio native subsequently expects him to be his toughest opponent yet, but also believes he can surprise rivals with new levels himself.
"I envision everybody is going to see that I've been taking it easy," he told Inside the Ring.
Sam Noakes is a durable and strong opponent. I might have to put a little more on him than I have against the rest. I might have to bring some stuff that I haven't brought out for the rest.
"The world championship is a huge step up so once I do this, this kind of solidifies me as one of boxing's big up-and-coming names.
"I might have to bring a little more smoke. Every time I step in the ring, the only way is up. All I've got to do is keep taking it seriously.
