What will Britain's male champion fighters do next?

2026 is almost at the halfway point, but it's been a banner year for British men inside the ring after a slew of world title triumphs.

Josh Kelly, Dalton Smith, and Hamzah Sheeraz earned their maiden straps, while Daniel Dubois and Anto Cacace returned to the summit.

At the same time, there's been heartbreak for Fabio Wardley and Nick Ball, with both men losing their grasp on the sport's top prizes.

Now, as the second half of a busy fight calendar starts to shape up, just who have been the biggest winners and losers thus far?

DAZN News looks back at the current crop of British champions and recent kingpins - and considers where they will go next this year.

Who are the current British male world champions?

Six stars have their hands on a world title right now, and all with less than a year in the saddle at the peak of their respective divisions.

Lewis Crocker is the longest-tenured man of the bunch, having earned his IBF welterweight strap in a Belfast brawl last September.

Success for Smith in his WBC super-lightweight challenge against Subriel Matias in January means he is the next man on the list, too.

Kelly followed with the IBF light-middleweight belt against Bakhram Murtazaliev, before Cacace dethroned Jazza Dickens for his strap.

The WBA super-featherweight champion teed up a busy May, where Dubois saw off rival Wardley to take his WBO heavyweight strap.

Then, lastly, Sheeraz became the latest when he stopped Alem Begic inside two rounds in Giza for the WBC super-middleweight crown.

What is next for the current champions?

There's less than a fortnight until one of Britain's half-dozen heroes goes back to town, with Crocker defending next week against Liam Paro.

But beyond that, the rest are waiting to see their next challenges rubber-stamped, with Dubois expected to entertain a Wardley rematch.

Kelly has been linked to a bout on the Anthony Joshua-Kristian Prenga undercard next month, with Irish star Caoimhín Agyarko a likely foe.

Sheeraz, too, could figure on the undercard, though Smith faces a wait after injury scotched a defence against Alberto Puello earlier this month.

Cacace, meanwhile, has nothing on his immediate dance card, though the star previously suggested he wanted to pursue a unification option.

Who could be the next British champion?

The big question for fight fans is who will get the next bite of the cherry - and there are a few options currently circling their major opportunities.

As the WBO mandatory challenger, light-heavyweight interim champion Callum Smith could be promoted should Dmitry Bivol fail to honour a bout.

Denzel Bentley, meanwhile, holds the WBO interim strap at middleweight and wants a shot, as does WBA (Regular) champion Jack Catterall, too.

Joe Cordina, meanwhile, faces WBO lightweight star Abdullah Mason for his strap next month, while Galal Yafai is the WBC interim flyweight king.

Then, of course, there is Wardley, who could return to the summit if he gains revenge in any rematch against Dubois, as and when it is agreed.
