Usyk vs. Verhoeven: Only on DAZN PPV - Saturday

Boxing great Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is set to have a piece of historic memorabilia displayed in New York's Natural History Museum.

As part of the museum's Sports Exhibition, Alvarez's laurel wreath crown will be featured. The crown was awarded to the Mexican following his win over John Ryder in Guadalajara three years ago.

Alvarez's meeting with Ryder was the first time he fought in his home country since stoppage victory over Kermit Cintron in 2011.

The crown was created by Adrian Pallarols, a personal silversmith to Pope Francis, and it was made with silver granules blessed by the Pope and finished in gold vermeil.

Alvarez's crown will be the only piece of boxing memorabilia in the exhibition which runs until January 3, 2027.

After becoming the undisputed champion at super middleweight, and beating Gennadiy Golovkin for a second time, Alvarez returned home for a long-awaited homecoming.

Fighting at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico, Alvarez went head-to-head with Britain's John Ryder.

Ryder was a huge underdog to spoil what was a celebration of Alvarez's achievements so far, but he failed to make any impression on the future hall of famer.

A knockdown for Alvarez in round five helped him cruise to a wide unanimous decision win in front of thousands of his adoring fans in what was a historic night for Mexican boxing.
