Canelo Alvarez has made it a point to fight during Cinco de Mayo weekend in May and Mexican Independence Day weekend in September as much as possible over the course of his glorious career.
And usually when he has done so, the Mexican boxing legend has shown a penchant for generating highlights.
Well, Alvarez will try to produce fireworks and add to his reel this time of year yet again when he defends his undisputed super middleweight world championship against Jaime Munguia in Las Vegas, and live on DAZN PPV, on Saturday night.
With that in mind, DAZN looks back at five of Canelo's greatest performances during Cinco de Mayo weekend.
Canelo crushes Billy Joe Saunders to win WBO super middleweight world title; May 8, 2021
Saunders more than held his own through seven rounds behind sound, technical boxing. But Alvarez made sure to erase any thoughts of that by detonating an electric and ultra punishing right uppercut during the eighth round.
The shot left Saunders' right eye swollen shut. Upon further review at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, it was determined that the punch fractured the British fighter's eye socket, prompting Saunders to quit on his stool at the round's end.
With the punctuating victory, Alvarez added the WBO title to his own WBA (Super) and WBC straps. He'd capture the IBF title via an 11th-round TKO of Caleb Plant to become undisputed ruler of 168 pounds that November.
Alvarez outboxes Daniel Jacobs in unanimous decision win; May 4, 2019
Against a complex, formidable opponent in Jacobs, Alvarez came out and set the tone by unleashing hard-hitting, impactful shots.
Canelo was also able to add to Jacobs' frustration with an elusive defense as he repeatedly slipped and evaded harm over several sequences in the fight.
When Jacobs' engine switched into a higher gear during the second half of the bout, Alvarez's damage had already been done as he got the unanimous decision nod.
Judges saw it 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113 in his favor from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as Alvarez snatched the IBF middleweight world title. Another sharp performance from the face of boxing.

What was hyped as a super bout between two Mexican fighters fizzled out into a one-way drubbing.
Canelo made sure of that by drowning out an outclassed Chavez Jr. with a multitude of skills that the latter didn't have any answers for.
Alvarez didn't waste any time getting on the front foot and walking the bigger Chavez Jr. down, while blasting him with slicing combinations that kept coming in bunches. All three judges inside of T-Mobile Arena called it 120-108 for Alvarez, giving him the unanimous decision shutout.
His scintillating performance was capped by an in-ring confrontation between him and Gennadiy Golovkin, setting off what would become a rivalry over a trilogy of bouts.
Eviscerating Amir Khan with sixth-round KO; May 7, 2016
Khan was boxing soundly, peppering Alvarez with a jab while moving swiftly around the ring.
In his eyes, he was in control of the fight, setting the pace through five rounds.
Or so he thought.
Late in the sixth round, Alvarez uncorked a hellacious overhand right that instantly knocked Khan out on his feet.
The eye-popping knockout put the boxing world on notice at just how explosive the Mexican sensation can be as this was arguably Alvarez's biggest fireworks of all during Cinco de Mayo weekend.
Dominating Shane Mosley in lopsided unanimous decision; May 5, 2012
If Canelo was going to be for real, he'd need big, quality names on his ring resume.
Well, he got one via a lopsided unanimous decision victory over "Sugar" Shane Mosley, dominating the legend over 12 rounds by the judges' scores of 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110.
The win marked Canelo's 40th pro victory.
His last victory was his 60th as the hits keep on coming.
