William Scull's promoter Ingo Volckmann has responded to claims that his fighter struggled in sparring against Conor Benn.
Benn is preparing for a huge fight against Chris Eubank Jr on Saturday night live on DAZN PPV with the 'Destroyer' moving up from welterweight to middleweight for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium showpiece.
This has resulted in Benn training with heavier than usual sparring partners with IBF super middleweight champion William Scull making an appearance in camp.
During Thursday's final press conference, Conor's father Nigel Benn was quick to praise his son's efforts in sparring and claimed that he made Scull quit after eight rounds in a supposedly scheduled 10-round session.
In a video posted by iFL TV, Volckmann gave his reaction to Benn's claims and stated that Scull's sparring sessions with Conor were scheduled for eight rounds.
"We said we make eight rounds, we said we make one minute stop because it was our first sparring," Volckmann said.
"He was already doing some sparring eight rounds, we said eight rounds, we did eight rounds.
"I really have to laugh a little bit."
Volckmann then criticised Benn for sharing what went on during Conor's sparring sessions. Often in boxing it is an unwritten law that what happens behind closed doors in training camp should not be made public.
"First of all, even if it would be like this, nobody speaks about it, the sportsmanship.
"I just want to say William Scull is in a good condition and next time you are in Mallorca, come to our gym, no problem we make 14 rounds with him. We can do it easily."
Scull is preparing for big fight of his own when he faces Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez for the undisputed super middleweight title on May 3. The fight, which will take place in Riyadh, is exclusively live on DAZN PPV.
Fight fans are in for a treat at the end of April / start of May, with three amazing fight cards within seven days - and DAZN PPV is the only place to watch them all.
Arch rivals Eubank Jr and Benn finally go head-to-head to start the exhilarating week, with PPV prices at £19.95 in the UK; $24.99 in the US; €24.99 in Europe.
