Cristobal Lorente believes his bout with Nathaniel Collins is "the most important fight" of his career, but believes it can show he is ready to challenge for world title success.
The pair meet in Glasgow this weekend, live on DAZN , with home favourite Collins looking to improve on his top ranking with the WBC and stay on track for a world title shot in 2026.
First however, he must get past Lorente, who arrives seeking to vault his way up the pecking order himself and into prime position to challenge for a major strap of his own.
Speaking ahead of his latest test, the Spaniard has opened up on his plans for a do-or-die clash that could define his international title aspirations beyond domestic glory.
"It’s the most important fight of my career, going up against the WBC number one, putting my title on the line, the opportunity to fight for the world title after this," he told The Ring .
"It’s all a huge motivation for me. I’m in the best moment of my career, and I’m ready to show the whole world that we are prepared for these big fights.
"I’m going to enjoy it, and make the fans enjoy it on October 4. Collins is a great boxer - aggressive, intelligent, and physically strong. He controls timing and distance very well.
"We are working to completely neutralize his boxing. That’s the key to the fight. Whoever manages to impose their style from the very beginning will have everything in their favour."
