Deontay Wilder vs Tyrrell Herndon - Wilder goes the distance with dangerous former world champion

After a year away from the ring, Deontay Wilder is back to revive his boxing career against Tyrrell Herndon on Friday night in Kansas.

During his reign as WBC world heavyweight champion, 'The Bronze Bomber' was a feared operator due to his explosive punching power which left many in a heap on the canvas.

In December 2023, at the iconic Day of Reckoning in Riyadh, Wilder attempted to set up a mega-fight with Anthony Joshua, who faced Otto Wallin on the same night.

But if this was to be a reality, the American needed to get past another former major strap holder, in the shape of ex-WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

Under Andy Lee, the New Zealander had revived his prospects as a serious contender and simply had too much for Wilder on a hot night in Saudi Arabia.

Yet even as he struggled to showcase the tenacity which made him a must-watch fighter, the star still managed to go the distance in a unanimous decision loss.

Wilder will be hoping to recapture the energy he could channel as 'The Bronze Bomber' on Friday night when he takes on Herndon in the ring.
