Deontay Wilder vs Tyrrell Herndon - Wilder plays huge part in classic boxing trilogy
The heavyweight division is set to welcome back one of its most exciting fighters tonight when former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder takes on Tyrrell Herndon.
'The Bronze Bomber' comes into this fight on the back of a two-fight losing streak, and a victory is needed if the American is to keep his boxing career alive.
To many fans, Wilder has never been the same since a brutal trilogy fight with then WBC title holder Tyson Fury in November 2021.
After losing a second bout with 'The Gypsy King' a year prior, Wilder activated his rematch clause and the two met for a third time at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Both men traded explosive punches with Fury down twice in round four, but it was Wilder who took the most damage with knockdowns in rounds three, 10 and 11.
In the end, Wilder's determination could not withstand any more punishment and he was knocked out by Fury in round 11.
Fury emerged from this trilogy with two wins from the three contests with Wilder, and the third and final clash was a fitting end to his modern heavyweight classic rivalry.
