Derek Chisora makes claim on Anthony Joshua comeback date but will it be against Deontay Wilder?
Derek Chisora believes that Anthony Joshua will be back in the ring in December but it wont be against Deontay Wilder.
Joshua has spent the bulk of 2023 working with Derrick James and his return to action has saw him register two one-sided wins against Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius.
Following those victories, it was expected that Joshua would jump straight into a lucrative bout with Wilder, but Chisora expects ‘AJ’ to go in another direction.
Speculation has linked Joshua to another fight in 2023, his third with James, and that belief is carried by Chisora, who has poured water on the Wilder talk for now.
“It’s not happening. It’s not happening for now,” said Chisora on Joshua vs. Wilder when speaking to Boxing King Media.
“So ‘AJ’ has to fight in December and Deontay Wilder has to fight, then we’ll see. For now, we’ll rule that out. It’s not happening.”
