Murat Gassiev would be open to a WBA heavyweight defence against Derek Chisora, stating it would be "very entertaining".
The former rubber-stamped his champion status with a six-round win over late replacement Peter Kadiru on Saturday night.
Chisora was ringside to congratulate Gassiev in the aftermath, with the pair old friends - but could a clash also be brewing?
Though 'Del Boy' reportedly hung up his gloves after a loss to Deontay Wilder in April, Gassiev would be happy for a bout.
“If we can’t unify in the near future, why not?” the star was quoted by Boxing Scene. "Chisora and I have a good relationship.
"We're friends. Unification fights are always the priority. The champions have the belts and that’s what every boxer is chasing.
"[But] he's a big name in boxing and that fight would generate a lot of excitement. I'm sure it would be a very entertaining fight."
Gassiev is hopeful of a shot at WBO champion Daniel Dubois and WBC champion Agit Kabayel, but admits he will need to wait.
Chisora meanwhile has teased the prospect of fighting on beyond a half-century of encoutners after his clash against Wilder.
The star is a two-time world title challenger and was previously the IBF mandatory challenger after beating Otto Wallin in 2025.
