Liam Smith is giving Conor Benn a better chance of achieving success in a potential rematch with Chris Eubank Jr, but he still thinks his former rival will get the job done.
The fight lived up to the hype beforehand and as is often the case following a dramatic battle, the demand for a rematch is high.
Eubank Jr has several options to explore after being linked to showdowns with Canelo Alvarez and Hamzah Sheeraz, but a second clash with Benn could do massive business.
Benn also has numerous opponents to consider if he makes a return to 147lbs where fights with Jaron Ennis and the returning Manny Pacquiao could take place, but he is also aware just how big it could be opposing Eubank Jr again.
Smith, who is also pondering his next move after a loss to Aaron McKenna on the Eubank Jr/Benn show, has provided is verdict.
“Yeah, I would like to see the rematch,” said Smith when speaking to Seconds Out.
“I think if Chris has a fight with Conor it’ll end up a good fight, but I think Conor’s got even more of a chance next time around, cause like I said I think Chris is one or two fights from being done. His balance has gone a little bit.”
Picking a winner, ‘Beefy’ went for Eubank Jr again, “Probably Chris, size-wise he’s too big for him, wasn’t he? When he wanted to be I think he was too big for him.”
