The pair have been waiting to fight for almost three years, and each fighter is desperate to secure a victory that will bring incredible bragging rights for the fighter and his family.
Away from boxing, Hatton has long been a supporter of Manchester City, and in recent years he has seen his club enjoy many memorable highs with multiple Premier League title wins as well as success in Europe with a Champions League win in 2023.
A hue admirer of Pep Guardiola, City’s manager, Hatton has been impressed with the Spaniard’s run in Manchester where he has overcome the threat of many great managers, most notably, Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool last year.
Another former rival of Guardiola’s is Jose Mourinho, and their feud was intense when both were managing in Spain at a different time in their careers.
Hatton was recently asked who would win a boxing match between Guardiola and Mourinho and the former world champion used this weekend’s combatants when comparing the two.
“Pep Guardiola looks very passionate on the touchline flying in there, here and everywhere and in the changing rooms talking to the boys, he’s also passionate so Pep may be a bit of a dark horse,” said Hatton when speaking to Action Network.
“Pep can be a nuisance. I’ve never met Pep, so I don’t know him personally. But it’s like Eubank vs Benn with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.
“I remember the one time Jose was sat on the bench talking to his assistant coach and somebody pointed that a Man City player should have a yellow card, so he sprints over to the referee and puts his hands in the air demanding a card. He hadn’t even seen it but what a character he is.
“I don’t look at Jose as someone who could have a fight though, I think of Sam Allardyce or Sean Dyche, you think they could have it but not with Jose Mourinho scaring anyone. But he is passionate, like Pep.”
