Frank Warren has been around boxing for a large portion of his life what does he consider to be the greatest fight he has ever promoted?
This weekend, Warren will kick off a new era on DAZN as he aims to deliver on his new broadcast deal by providing more exciting contests.
On Saturday night, in a big heavyweight encounter, Joe Joyce and Filip Hrgovic will collide with the winner likely to progress to the business end of the division.
Warren, a Hall of Fame promoter, has been around boxing for five decades and he cannot hide his excitement regarding his recent move to DAZN and upcoming schedule.
The veteran fight maker has delivered countless classics throughout the years including some of Brish boxing’s most memorable nights featuring the likes of Frank Bruno, Naseem Hamed, Joe Calzaghe, and Ricky Hatton.
Stadium fights, world title battles, and hard-hitting action have featured frequently on Warren’s shows, but what about the best fight he has ever put on?
“That’s such a tough question,” said Warren during an exclusive chat with DAZN News where he reflected on his lengthy spell in the sport.
“Heavyweight fight then it’s the third fight between Tyson [Fury] and [Deontay] Wilder . That was the most amazing fight. The courage, the heart, the grit. Sitting at ringside for that was a privilege.
“I expected Tyson to win, but it turned into a real up and downer between the two of them. That was a fabulous fight.
As well as reserving praise for Fury vs Wilder 3, Warren was quick to pay tribute to another battle that he staged back in 1995.
“Another fight that comes to mind, for right reasons and wrong reasons, and I urge every fighter who’s turning professional to watch it and that’s Nigel Benn against Gerald McClellan.
“It shows the dangers of the sport. It shows the true courage of the fighters. Boxers are like no other sportsmen. They bare their souls in front of people one on one in the ring. That fight had tragic consequences for Gerald McClellan, and I’d tell every boxer to watch it.”
DAZN is the home of combat sports, broadcasting over 185 fights a year from the world's best promoters, including Matchroom, Queensberry, Golden Boy, Misfits, PFL, BKFC, GLORY and more.
