Boxing has lost a legendary figure with the announcement that George Foreman has died at the age of 76.

Foreman enjoyed success in both the professional and amateur ranks, winning Olympic gold in 1968, and then becoming heavyweight champion of the world on two occasions.

Many will know Foreman from the legendary Rumble in the Jungle fight with Muhammad Ali in 1974, a fight where Foreman lost his world heavyweight title.

Foreman first retired in 1978 after suffering his second professional loss to Jimmy Young, but this only lasted until 1987 when 'Big George' laced up the gloves once more to raise money for a youth centre he founded.

Seven years later, Foreman would become the oldest world heavyweight champion at 45 after knocking out the undefeated Michael Moorer.

Foreman's last fight took place in 1997 where he lost to Shannon Briggs by majority decision.
