After beating Cyril Gane on Saturday night, UFC world heavyweight champion Cyril Gane is now no longer under contract with the world's leading MMA promotion.
As a result there is now a chance Ngannou could swap the Octagon for a boxing ring and has been actively pursuing a fight with the WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury over recent weeks.
The pair have been going back and forth on social media, and Fury has now had his say on Ngannou's victory over Gane.
Congratulations @francis_ngannou but if you want to make some real money come see the GK 💰— TYSON FURY (@Tyson_Fury) January 23, 2022
Boxing was Ngannou's original passion and is known as the hardest puncher in the UFC. However, recent disputes over pay has resulted in the 35-year-old running down his contract and potentially leaving the MMA world behind.
It remains to be seen as to whether Fury vs. Ngannou will get made, but if a deal is reached, it's a fight which would certainly capture the imaginations of combat sports fans across the world.
