Joe Joyce faces Kash Ali this weekend, but the 35-year-old is already looking ahead to taking on bigger names should he prove victorious.
The former Olympian has mentioned Deontay Wilder as a potential future opponent as he looks to work his way back into the world heavyweight title picture, but he's also got his sights set on countryman and fellow Olympic medallist Anthony Joshua for a possible bout.
Joshua's immediate future appears to be spoken for as he's first in line to face the winner of the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk undisputed title bout, but Joyce has volunteered himself should "AJ" be looking for another fight.
Joyce recently gave his opinion on how Joshua would stand up against the likes of David Haye and Muhammad Ali in their respective primes, and he also revealed a bit of unresolved history between himself and the two-time former unified world champion.
“There's been a bit of needle with Joshua, a bit of back and forth on social media," Joyce told OLBG.
"I’d love to fight him one day. I fought him in the amateurs, but had to fight this other geezer before I fought him, so I had to fight twice and he only had to fight one.
"And he had all the support there for him, every time he landed a shot everyone was cheering. I felt it was a bit biased.”
Joyce said the bad blood between him and Joshua also extends back to an alleged incident from the their time together as amateurs representing Great Britain in London 2012 and Rio 2016.
“I didn't enjoy him gloating when he was watching a video of the fight we had in the amateurs," he said. "I saw a clip of him watching our fight back with his friends and giggling and laughing at it.
"It was some footage I saw. I've not spoken to him for a long time but it left a bitter taste in my mouth.
"He was my teammate and he supported me through the bad decision I had in Rio and I supported him leading up to the London Olympics because I got in the squad and it was always very competitive with him. I'd love to fight AJ one day.”
