Joseph Parker's next fight date teased by promoter Frank Warren
Promoter Frank Warren has teased that former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker will return to the ring in September.
Since being knocked out by Joe Joyce in 2022, Parker has undergone a successful rebuild with impressive wins over Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang and Martin Bakole.
The New Zealander finds himself on the brink of a world title shot but he will have to wait a little while longer for his chance to become a two-time champion
Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois currently hold all the major straps and are set to clash for the undisputed heavyweight title on July 19 live on DAZN.
While it would be easy for Parker to sit and wait to face the winner of, the key to his resurgence has been his activity levels, and Warren is looking to keep this going in 2025.
"I spoke with Joseph and his team and he will fight again in September," Warren told talkSPORT. "We will then wait and see the outcome of the rematch between Usyk and Dubois.
"The WBO have said that the winner of that fight will have to do their mandatory. He is the interim champion so he is in a good position, as he can fight for the four belts.
"Or if the winner vacates, then he will be elevated and become a full world champion."
Parker's long awaited world title shot was scheduled to be against Daniel Dubois on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev's undisputed light heavyweight title rematch with Dmirtry Bivol in February.
However, Dubois withdrew from the contest during fight week due to an illness and instead Parker fought last minute replacement Bakole.
Parker made easy work against a man who was considered to be one of the most feared names in the heavyweight division with a stoppage in the second round.
