Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have reportedly agreed to fight each other in an exhibition bout next year.

TMZ Sports broke the shock news first, adding that contracts have already been signed by both men, but the date and location for the fight are yet to be announced.

It is anticipated the fight will take place in the spring of 2026.

Tyson, who was last seen in the ring taking on Jake Paul last year, told TMZ: "This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable. This fight is as unpredictable as it gets.

"I still can't believe Floyd wants to really do this. It's going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it's signed. and it's happening."

You already know that if I am going to do something, it's going to be big and legendary. I'm the best in the business of boxing. Tyson vs Mayweather is the second major exhibition clash to be announced in a matter of weeks following the news that Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis will fight one another on November 14.

There is set to be a huge size disparity in that fight given that Paul's last contest was at the the cruiserweight limit of 200lbs, while Davis is the current WBA lightweight (135lbs) champion.

The matchup between Tyson and Mayweather may see an even bigger gap in weight between the pair. During his professional career, Mayweather won world titles in five different weight classes, the highest being up at super welterweight (154lbs).

Two-time heavyweight champion Tyson weighed in at over 200lbs throughout his illustrious career, and tipped the scales at 223lbs for his points loss to Paul last November.

It is currently unknown whether the two fighters will have their weight limits capped, a concept that Mayweather is familiar with. Back in 2021, he was not allowed to weigh more than 160lbs when he faced Logan Paul, while the elder Paul brother could not come into the fight above 190lbs.

The number of rounds and weight of the gloves have also not been specified yet.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the rules, Tyson vs Mayweather will still pit two all-time greats against one another, and has been billed as "one of the most significant and compelling boxing events in history".
