Nathaniel Collins vs Cristobal Lorente: Who has the edge heading into their fight?

Watch Collins vs Lorente October 4 live on DAZN

Nathaniel Collins has it embedded in his mind that a world title shot is within reach if he could defeat Cristobal Lorente convincingly.

Well, ‘The Nightmare’ will attempt to do just that Saturday when he clashes with the Spanish fighter at Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland, and live on DAZN.

Collins (17-0, 8 KOs) is coming off a fourth-round TKO of Lee McGregor in May, while Lorente (20-0-2, 8 KOs) fought Ruben Gil to a draw in July 2025.

With plenty in the balance, DAZN News analyzes who has the edge between this pair of undefeated fighters.

Boxing Styles

Fluid on the feet, Nathaniel Collins is a technician who feints and changes levels in rhythm, piecing together combinations off a crisp jab.

That will be up against Cristobal Lorente, a pressure fighter who also works off the jab well and is comfortable getting stuck in the phone booth if necessary.

If there is a knock on the latter it can be that his heavy footing around the ring often has him overextending on the jab — something Collins can read, recognize and exploit with sharp counterpunches.

The edge here goes to Collins.

Edge: Collins

Power

Both featherweights enter this pivotal contest with eight knockouts attached to their ledgers.

But the push might be that Collins is able to dip into a deeper bag of punch selection whereas Lorente could be a bit stiff with his output at times.

This bodes well for the southpaw Collins who certainly has the punch palette to make Saturday ‘The Nightmare’ match for Lorente … especially if he catches him with that sniper-like straight left splitting the guard.

That is the shot that the Scottish fighter utilized to dispose of McGregor in four rounds earlier this year.

Edge: Collins

Mental Warfare

Collins and Lorente are treating this bout as the fight of their lives and for good reason, considering a title shot might be the reward in the near future for the winner.

When it comes to the mental edge though, an intriguing, perhaps revealing moment transpired during the final fight press conference when Lorente referred to himself as a more “tactical” fighter.

To that notion, Collins simply said “I don’t believe that, I don’t believe [Lorente] believes that.”

The comment was made with steely confidence that could very well point to Collins having the full belief in himself to become ‘The Next King of Scotland’ as advertised — and perhaps even more.

Edge: Collins

Who has the edge in Collins vs Lorente?

Collins let it be known as some press conference parting shots: “I think I’m going to make a big statement to the rest of the world after Saturday night. My name is going to be up in lights again.”

It is a bold declaration which must be backed up with his hands against a durable, fellow undefeated fighter in Lorente.

One unbeaten fighter will inch closer to a featherweight world title opportunity. The other will be forced to rebuild.

DAZN News has the edge 3-0 in favor of Collins, though the Scottish boxer must fight his words into fruition to make it to the next level. That, or Lorente will put Collins being ‘The Next King of Scotland’ in serious jeopardy.
