The build-up for a possible fight between WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball and undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue is seemingly underway.

Ball successfully defended his world title against TJ Doheny on Saturday night with some hoping a showdown with the 'Monster' is next.

While Inoue's next fight has been confirmed for May 4 against Ramon Cardenas at the T-Mobile Arena at super bantamweight, it is expected that the Japanese star will move up in weight in the near future, with Ball in the running if this does indeed happen.

Inoue was keeping a close eye on Ball after he posted a reaction on X to the Liverpudlian's kick on Doheny which prompted a reply from the 'Wrecking Ball'.

"That ball is funny, but don't kick it!" Inoue wrote in Japanese.

Ball then gave the following response, "When you're ready to kick it at 126lbs let me know."

Inoue then welcomed Ball's offer and had a simple message for the WBA featherweight champion.

"Two fists are enough for me," said Inoue before Ball replied once more.

"Let's make it happen and find out then."

If Ball and Inoue were to meet, it would be no surprise if the latter was billed as the favourite to come out on top, but former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton believes that Ball can cause plenty of problems for one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters
