Oleksandr Usyk does not have to face Moses Itauma, with Carl Frampton believing it does not affect the champion's legacy.
The former defends his WBC world title against Rico Verhoeven in Giza this month on DAZN Pay-Per-View and Ultimate Tier.
As unified heavyweight champion, Usyk remains in hot demand, with rising star Itauma making no secret of his desire to fight.
But Frampton believes there is no need for the two-weight undisputed favourite to take a bout against the Briton any time soon.
"I don't think Usyk will fight him," he told DAZN News. "That's not to say that Usyk is avoiding him, or ducking him in any way.
"I don't think he has to fight Moses. It doesn't affect his legacy. I think Moses is going to be the Usyk of his era, his generation."
Frampton however admits that a bout with freshly-minted WBO champion Daniel Dubois could be a mouthwatering matchup.
"Moses against Dubois sounds sweet," he added. "Dubois makes sense, Usyk makes sense. Everybody's chasing the Usyk fight."
With his next dance slated for August, the clock appears to be ticking on Moses Itauma's wait for a world title shot in 2026.
Queensberry Promotions boss Frank Warren has already made it clear he wants his man to challenge for a crown this year.
Fabio Wardley's loss to Daniel Dubois may prove the obvious pathway, given the close bond between the former and Itauma.
But with a trio of belts still tied up by Oleksandr Usyk, matters are not quite as readily cut-and-dried for the division as hoped.
If Itauma comes through his latest test - whoever it may be - with the win, then surely the clamour will deliver something concrete.
