Usyk defeated Tyson Fury.

Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury on May 18 to become undisputed heavyweight champion and the first fighter to hold all four belts at heavyweight.

Here, DAZN looks at the fights that helped Usyk reach the top of the heavyweight division.

Chazz Witherspoon

Usyk’s heavyweight debut came in 2019 when he travelled to America to defeat Chazz Witherspoon. The move didn’t convince fight fans that Usyk was an undisputed champion in waiting, but he had done more than enough to secure a stoppage victory.

Derek Chisora

Next up for Usyk was an empty-arena showdown during the COVID 19 pandemic against former and future world title challenger, Derek Chisora. The British veteran had his moments, but Usyk was too clever in the crucial stages to earn a deserved points win.

Anthony Joshua

At Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium. Usyk produced one of the best performances of the modern era as he dominated Anthony Joshua to become heavyweight champion. Usyk was in control from the outset and neatly closed the show in style when he hurt Joshua in the final round.

Anthony Joshua 2

After defeating Joshua convincingly, Usyk had to do it again when Joshua activated his rematch clause in 2022. The result was the same, but Joshua did enjoy more success despite going down on the cards again.

Tyson Fury

Once again fighting in Saudi Arabia, Usyk had to be very patient against Tyson Fury, but an incredible ninth round turned things in his favour. Usyk finished the fight brilliantly to become undisputed heavyweight champion.
