Oliver McCall’s spirited comeback suffered its first dent this week when he was held to a draw in Nashville against Carlos Reyes.

The former world champion, the man who defeated Lennox Lewis, is now 60 years of age, but there does not appear to be any sign that he will be calling time on his career just yet.

McCall returned to the ring last year following a lengthy spell of inactivity and he was able to score a win.

Last November, McCall was able to get past Stacy Frazier in Texas as he ended a five-year absence to compete at the age of 59

In February, McCall was back and this time he reminded fight fans of the power he carries as he registered a fust round stoppage win over Gary Cobia.

Facing Reyes, McCall was once again expected to land victory, but he had a much harder night than he bargained for and could only settle for a split of the scorecards.

Although the bout was scheduled for six rounds, there was confusion in the McCall corner after round four as there appeared to be a belief that he thought the fight was only set for four sessions.

McCall’s punch output declined massively in the closing stages and as a result, it would cost him victory.

The next steps for McCall are still unclear, but it looks likely that he will fight again, and a rematch with Reyes could be required to close the chapter on this stage of his long story.
