'Ridiculous!' - Ryan Garcia hits out at drug claims ahead of Mario Barrios blockbuster

DAZN
Ultimate Tier: PPVs & 185 fight nights included

Ryan Garcia has refuted claims that he has gone untested by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) ahead of his bout with Mario Barrios.

The former will challenge for the latter's WBC welterweight title in Las Vegas later this month, as he bids to bounce back from a loss to Rolly Romero.

Garcia has endured a torrid few years in the ring, having seen his 2024 win over Devin Haney ruled a no-contest after a failed drug test afterwards too.

The mark on his reputation has remained since, with the star taking to social media on Friday to dispel fresh rumours that suggested he has dodged testing before his bout.

"I wasn’t going to speak on this [because] it’s ridiculous," he wrote on X. "But I [have] seen parts of the media claiming I’m not tested by VADA which is extremely untrue.

"I’ve been tested this whole camp and I'm sure so has Mario Barrios. Anyone claiming these things will be met with legal action. Thank you."

Garcia further posted what appears to be an email from VADA, dated from January, containing the negative results of one such test taken by the body.
