Shakur Stevenson reportedly ordered by WBC to defend lightweight title against William Zepeda
Shakur Stevenson has been ordered by the WBC to defend his lightweight title against No.1 contender William Zepeda, according to The Ring Magazine.
The report states that Stevenson and Zepeda have until May 6 to strike a deal, after which time the fight would be scheduled for a purse bid.

Stevenson retained the WBC title with a ninth-round stoppage victory over Josh Padley in February, improving his record to 23-0. The 27-year-old won the title in late 2023 and has defended it twice, and now he appears to be on a collision course with Zepeda (33-0), who defeated Tevin Farmer by majority decision last month.
Stevenson took to social media over the weekend to state that he has rejected an offer from His Excellency Turki Alalshikh for a fight against Zepeda in the summer but that he is focused on making the fight happen.
"The fight is ordered by the WBC, I’m still Champion and aren’t pulling out of anything," Stevenson wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. "If we can’t reach a deal then purse bids it is. See you soon."
