Gervonta Davis’ coach, Calvin Ford, has suggested Ryan Garcia could be the next opponent for ‘Tank’.

Davis moved up to 140lbs at the weekend to take Mario Barrios’ WBA super lightweight interim championship, but had been keen on a fight with the young Californian before Garcia stepped away from boxing to assist his mental health.

Ford believes that Garcia would make a decent option at 135lbs.

Speaking on the DAZN Boxing Show, Akin Reyes believes that Garcia should not dive into the deep end with Davis and should instead take a tune-up fight first.

“I think that he has to get a feel of what it feels like to be in a ring again, after dealing with stuff outside of the ring,” he explained.

“We all know that boxing, you know, most of it is mental outside of being in physical shape. Ryan never has a problem making weight. He's always in great physical shape. So he has to be in great mental shape.

“And I think that the Tank fight is a much bigger fight. I think that Ryan Garcia, I'm just seeing him beat another big name. and building a big fight against Tank will be more lucrative opposed to  him just fighting Tank right now.

“So no, I don't think that fight happens at all. Ryan's already alluded to making an announcement for an opponent soon and I doubt it is going to be Tank Davis because he was talking about that even before Tank fight. “
