Action has not been one of the most talked about two-year-olds so far from Ballydoyle, but he is one for the notebook after a run full of promise in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket.
Given a patient ride, he was a little short of room when making his challenge, finishing strongly for third. He would have been a bit closer to the unbeaten winner Bow Echo, too, if things had gone differently, but there was still lots to take from this first try at Group Two level.
As a close relation of this year’s dual Derby winner Lambourn, he could be an exciting middle-distance prospect for next year.
