Gegard Mousasi touts one of the most respected careers in mixed martial arts history.
Fresh off winning the middleweight championship via a dominating unanimous decision over Douglas Lima last fall, Mousasi will look to defend the title against No. 1 contender and fellow veteran John Salter. It all goes down in the main event of Bellator 264 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. on Friday night.
Mousasi rebounded from his first loss in nearly four years — a majority decision to Rafael Lovato Jr. — with a split decision win over Lyoto Machida and the points win over Lima to be crowned middleweight champion in October.
The 36-year-old will face Salter, who's of the same age, and also bounced back after losing to Lovato. Since being submitted by Lovato in September 2018, Salter has rattled off three consecutive wins, having defeated Chidi Njokuani, Costello van Steenis and most recently Andrew Kapel via third-round submission (arm-triangle choke) last August.
Will Mousasi reinforce that his fight game is on another level or will Salter pull off what would be a huge upset?
