Michael Morales (17-0) will face Gilbert Burns (22-8) on May 17 in the main event of UFC Fight Night. The Ecuadorian fighter has a great deal of respect for his future opponent, a former contender for the UFC welterweight belt.
DAZN News spoke to the 25-year-old about the upcoming matchup.
"I’ve studied him a lot, I have a lot of respect for him, precisely because of that, because he has a history in the UFC, he’s a super experienced fighter and he’s also earned the chance to fight for the title, even," Morales said. "So, he’s a fighter I respect a lot and I hope this fight against him will be really incredible for the people who get to watch us."
Still undefeated, Morales is looking to build on his success. Next month, the fighter will have a chance to shine before the eyes of the whole world.
"I never imagined I’d have to fight him at some point, but we knew he’d be on the path," Morales said. "So, it’s something we had been expecting and I think it’s going to be a really good opportunity to show all the evolution I’ve been going through, even though I’ve had so little time in the UFC."
