'I will lay him flat on his back' - Anthony Joshua issues warning to Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua has no doubts about what he will do if he ever gets to fight Tyson Fury.

The Olympic gold medallist is gearing up to fight Jake Paul in their blockbuster in Miami, Florida on Friday night, but he didn’t hold back when asked about Fury on the Ring Magazine’s Mr. Verzace Podcast.

It has been rumoured that Joshua and Fury will finally get it on in 2026 and Joshua was asked how he thought Fury did in his two fights against Oleksandr Usyk, who also beat AJ twice.

“He nearly got knocked out [in their first fight]. I wish Usyk caught him with one more shot – I was on the edge of my seat, throwing the punch,” said Joshua.

“I wish Usyk knocked him out, he [Fury] needs to be humbled.

“But, I swear, if I ever get the opportunity, I will lay him flat on his back.”

Fury took aim at Joshua on social media again on Wednesday and the latter admitted he is tired of all the talking about their potential matchup now.

He added: “I’m looking for real fighters, Tyson is not a real fighter in my eyes.

“Unless you want to fight, shut the f—k up.”

After years of discussion about the fight, Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, was asked if that contest still means as much and he believes the demand is as high as ever.

“Every train you get on, every road you walk down, every taxi you get in – they say the same thing: when is AJ fighting Fury?

“We know, every time that fight was put to us, we were ready and we signed for it.

“He [Joshua] will always be sceptical of this fight taking place. I don’t think he’ll get excited until he is looking him in the eyes in the ring.”

As for Friday night’s contest, Joshua insists he won’t drag it out any longer than he needs to and that he wants to end things quickly.

“I don’t play with my food. No way, no way,” he continued.

“If I can hurt you, I’m gonna hurt you, bro. If you hit me once, I’m gonna hit you twice – that’s just the game we’re in.

“If you watch football, you don’t want it to end in the first ten minutes – you want to watch the full ninety-minute football match, soccer match or NFL match.

"With boxing, if I can end it in ten seconds, I’ll do it, and people will be happy. So, I just wanted to make people happy.”
